A Thought
It always amazes me how everything in human society is connected (correlated).
An article at Forbes website makes these connections (http://www.forbes.com/2009/04/27/briefing-europe-midday-markets-equities-swine-flu.html).
Fears about an outbreak of swine flu rocked markets from the open on Monday,
sending shares of drug companies higher and airlines stocks sharply lower.
Health care was the sole sector in positive territory. The dollar firmed up
against most currencies including the euro and pound. Bond prices rose as
investors sought safe havens. In commodities, oil futures fell $2.11 to $49.44.
It also is interesting that when things in the world go awry, lots of
people/businesses/governments clings to the American dollar.
