8 Years of George Bush. What Happened?

 

We have heard a lot about the "8 years of George Bush" during 2008. Well, now that George's 8 years are about over, what really did happen while he was president?  It's important to note that these facts aren't necessarily attributed to any particular President, they are just the statistics that occurred during each President's term of office.

 

We will compare statistics during George Bush's time in office with our last 5 presidents.

 

Jimmy Carter      1977 to 1981

Ronald Reagan   1981 to 1989

George Bush Sr. 1989 to 1993

Bill Clinton         1993 to 2001

George Bush       2001 to 2009

 

Statistic #1

Jimmy Carter       $2.4 Trillion

Ronald Reagan    $4.1 Trillion

George Bush Sr.  $5.9 Trillion

Bill Clinton          $8.1 Trillion

George Bush        $11.8 Trillion

 

Notice the average annual growth  during George's presidency was larger than the GDP during Carter's presidency.

Note the 10 million new jobs during the last 8 years.

 

Of course the severe problems during the 4th quarter of 2008 will impact these numbers in the coming years.
