The Job of Vice President of the United States

Job Requirements

     - Must be 35 years old
     - Must be a US citizen
     - Must have lived in the US for at least 14 years

Term of the Vice President

     - The term is the same as the president that appointed him/her. There is no limit on the number of terms a vice president can serve.

Salary and Fringe benefits

     - Salary of at least $210,100. This number is Dick Cheney's salary
     - The vice president has an assigned expense account

The vice president can live in Number One Observatory Circle, which has been the official vice  presidential residence since 1974

Job Functions

     - The primary duty is to become President of the United States if the president is unable to serve.
     - The vice president presides over the Senate only on ceremonial occasions or when a tie-breaking vote may be needed.
     - The vice president receives from the states the tally of electoral ballots cast for president and vice president and has them brought
        to the Senate and House of  Representatives so that the total votes could be counted
     - Recently, the role of the vice president has evolved into more of an executive branch position. The vice president is usually seen
       as an integral part of a president's administration.
