Announcement
A
presidential candidate first makes an official announcement that he or she is
running for president and files papers with the Federal Elections Commission,
which regulates the election process.
The candidate can run
independently (on their own) or be supported by a political party. The primary
parties are the Democrat and Republican Parties. Other parties are called third
parties. Examples of third parties are
